Oral presentation is a great tool for communication of thoughts between the presenter and his audience. With the help of an effective Oral presentation, the presenter can communicate his thoughts, beliefs and ideas before his audience. This type of communication is used effectively nowadays by business organizations, schools, colleges and government departments. Making effective oral presentations requires a high degree of knowledge and skills. Purpose of Oral presentation The primary purpose of an Oral presentation is to make sure that its point is not defeated at any point of time. The ideas, beliefs and thoughts of the presenter must therefore be communicated to the audience in a simple language, free from all kinds of complications and jargons. Tips for making effective Oral Presentations: * The presenter must undertake the presentation in the most simple and easy to understand manner. * The presenter must not make use of any kind of jargon and complicated words. * The speech must be free from any kind of hindrances and it must not be blurred. The presenter must speak slowly, precisely and calmly so that his audience can understand him easily. * The presentation must not be affected by loud noises or animations. It must make use of a clear and effective voice tone. The accent must be familiar to the audience. * The flow of the presentation must be maintained at all times. Statements must be simple to understand, this can be done by the use of slide shows or Power Point. * Have a detailed insight after a study of the current trends and expected outcomes. The plan of action must also be clearly defined. * Restrict the use of punctuation. Statements in all caps must be strictly avoided. * The presenter must observe a good posture. It is believed that the audience listen more effectively when the presenter gives the presentation in a standing mode. Giving presentation by sitting is not liked by the audience. * It is very important that the presenter makes sure that all the tools and equipments are in a sound and working condition. * Always remember, the purpose of your presentation is to communicate effectively and there is no effective way for you to reach your audience than to give an effective presentation to them. The aim of the presentation must never be compromised. * If you don't want anyone to disturb your presentation, make sure that you convey to them, that all their queries will be solved at the end of the presentation. If they fear forgetting the query, ask them to write it on a piece of paper. If you want to solve their queries as they come, you can ask them to interrupt you with permission. Making effective oral presentations is not a simple task but it can be handled effectively with due care and a little intelligence. |
