Tips For Tutorial Presentations
|
If you are a teacher, then you must be using presentations often. With these tutorial presentations, you can explain a particular topic to your fellow students. A tutorial presentation helps your pupils learn and understand new skills and information. Giving a tutorial presentation involves making an oral presentation of your ideas on a subject. It requires different preparations and skills. It is just like a formal presentation in which you have to introduce a subject and discuss about it in detail. Well, if you are still reading this article then it is quite obvious that you have either never given a tutorial presentation or have had a bad experience in giving one. What you really need are some tips and guidelines that will help you in both situations. A tutorial presentation is an opportunity for you to critically think, organize ideas, question the ideas of other people and defend your stand. It also gives you a chance to explain your idea clearly. You can argue on a point, reflect, listen, negotiate, cooperate and hence, solve the problems of your peers and even yourself. Always plan your tutorial in a logical and systematic manner. Treat your presentation more like an assignment. This way, you can use the techniques of a written assignment here. There is a lot of research and reading required for every presentation. You need to do a detailed research on the subject you are going to present. Read widely to ensure that you do not leave out any important key portions of the topic. Always support the points with evidence from the literature you have read and researched. Your critical detailing of the topic will show that you have prepared well for the tutorial. But, remember the content should be directly related to the topic of your tutorial. If you fail to do so, you cannot answer the questions of the audience. The most important thing here is to organize the material that you plan to use during your presentation. Give attention to handouts and even equipments like overhead projectors. Try arriving early in the class and set your notes and equipment before the rest of the class arrives. If you plan to have a debate between different groups, then arrange the furniture in that manner. Following all this, you can make excellent tutorial presentations. After all, tutorial presentations are a learning experience for the audience as well as the presenter. |
